In this workshop, participants will bring a trough (home made or purchased) and learn the proper steps to planting alpine plants for years of perennial enjoyment. You will also be learning about alpines and their preferences. A great selection of alpines, dwarf conifers, and miniature plants will be available for purchase and planting.

Class fee is $5 plus cost of materials used.

We want to begin our 30th season with some fun. Join us for a presentation on the new annuals and perennials for 2008. We'll even show you some new ones for 2009. Telly's owner, George Papadelis, will give a digital presentation and show us some of the wonderful new stuff you'll see at Telly's this Spring. Our greenhouse, rose area, and perennial department will be overflowing with plants to see.

In this hands-on class, each registrant will create a Bonsai plant to take home. Telly's own Bonsai instructor, Hector Debrabant, will guide participants through the process of selecting, potting, and pruning. Long-term care will be discussed.

Secrets of the soil...with a sense of humus! At 10:00

Join: Lillian Dean and SOCWA Master Composter volunteers for a presentation and hands-on composting demonstration. Compost is gardener's gold...and is recommended for water quality protection in the Rouge and Clinton River watersheds. Through this workshop, you will learn the 5 easy steps for making compost as well as why compost is the natural source of garden fertility.

Telly's New Green Products and Plants at 11:00

The Telly's staff will take this opportunity to introduce attendees to our many earth friendly garden care products. Solutions for soil enhancement, pest control, disease control, and even containers will be featured. We will also take this time to kick off our new "green grown" herb and vegetable program. Here we will feature the techniques and concepts we are using to grow healthy, earth friendly plants for your herb and vegetable garden.
